Privacy & security
Your data is private and safe.
Your boat data belongs to you. It's stored on encrypted, EU-based infrastructure, and only you (and the people you invite) can see it. We will never sell your personal data, boat data, service history, documents or contact details to another company. You decide who can access your boat, and you can change or remove that access whenever you want.
Stored in the EU on managed cloud infrastructure
Your data lives in a managed PostgreSQL database hosted in the European Union, with documents, photos and uploads kept in object storage in the same region. Backups are encrypted and retained on a rolling schedule.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
All traffic to and from boat.life runs over TLS (HTTPS). Data on disk and in backups is encrypted at rest by the underlying platform. Passwords are hashed — we never see or store them in plain text.
Row-level security on every table
Every record carries an owner. Database row-level security rules are enforced server-side so even a bug in the app cannot let one user read another user's boat, documents, messages or photos. You only see what you own or what's explicitly shared with you.
No ads, no selling, no training public AI on your stuff
We don't run ads. We don't sell or rent personal data. Your private documents, photos and notes are never used to train public AI models. AI features only read your data to answer your own questions, in your own boat record.
You control who sees what
By default your boat record is private to you. Sharing with friends, crew, a yard or a buyer is explicit and per-boat — you decide who gets access, and you can revoke it at any time. Boats marked public only expose what you intentionally publish.
Export and take it with you
It's your boat's life, not ours. You can export your maintenance history and documents, and the full record stays with the boat if she changes hands.
Delete your account, delete your data
Ask us to delete your account and we remove your personal data and uploads from active systems. Encrypted backups age out on their normal rotation. No dark patterns, no hoops.
Future: optional AI maintenance recommendations
This feature is not active yet. In the future, we may offer optional AI-powered recommendations based on your boat's history, service records, reminders and documents — to help predict maintenance needs and prevent problems before they happen. The goal is to spot useful jobs earlier, much like an experienced boatyard would say "I think you should check this before it becomes a bigger problem." If we introduce it, we'll explain clearly how it works and you'll be able to opt out.
GDPR-aligned, minimal data collection
We collect the minimum needed to run the service: your account, the boats you choose to add, and basic logs for security and abuse prevention. You have the right to access, correct and delete your data — just ask.
